Lunenburg Nova Scotia - Yesterday was a day of celebration for all of us in the Class Afloat community. Our students, teachers and crew were brought home to their families. Though there are still a few students still en route to the four corners of the globe or still in Brazil with their families.
We are thankful to our extraordinary Captain and Professional Crew who led the evacuation of Concordia. Our teachers and students had the courage to do what had to be done in the most critical moments. There are many stories of heroism being shared by families today. Over the coming days they will be shared with well wishers across the country. For today though the focus is on families reunited and students happily home.
The team at Class Afloat has many people to thank. First among these are the parents now reunited with their children. We thank our Alumni, who met the students at airports around the globe. DFAIT, the JRCC in Halifax, the national embassies from around the country who have enabled our kids to come home quickly. Air Canada for bringing our students to Toronto and Air Canada and Westjet who truly showed, at every turn that they care about people by bringing these kids home to us so quickly and with such respect for families.
