West Island College International – Class Afloat is a private school based in Nova Scotia that operates on a Class-A tall ship. We offer full grade 11 and grade 12 high school curriculums on board while sailing around the world to over 15 ports of call. At Class Afloat our goal is to utilize sail training tradition to explore and build a strong sense of community. With Kurt Hahn’s principles of experiential learning as a foundation, Class Afloat students develop their confidence, compassion, and awareness to graduate as global citizens for the 21st century. There are 48 students on board, and over 20 professional crew/ faculty.

Faculty Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education from a recognized postsecondary institution
• 2-5 years of teaching experience preferred
• Educational qualifications in secondary teachable subjects are required
• A passion and motivation to teach and guide young people in an experiential educational setting
• Strong problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills
• Demonstrated organizational and communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
